6 of the Best Homemade Halloween Costumes with a Jewish/Interfaith Theme
Halloween is right around the corner, are you ready yet? We don’t usually do much for Halloween, especially now that our daughter is off in University. If we dressed up we would usually look for the best homemade Halloween costumes we could find.
We do however, give out candy to the neighborhood kids. We used to live in a very Jewish neighborhood, and would see some really cute Jewish themed Halloween costumes. However the neighborhood has grown up and many people have moved on. Now we have a much more multicultural neighborhood and we love seeing what costumes people come up with.
That got me to thinking. What would the best homemade Halloween costumes with a Jewish or Interfaith theme to it? So I took to the internet to find some awesome ideas. Check them out below.
1. Jew Man Group
A little blue face paint, (ok maybe alot of blue face paint), dark clothes, big black hat or yarmulke, some curly hair and payos (long curly hair in front of the ears) and carry a drum.
2. A Nun and a Rabbi
How about a nun and a Rabbi? You can’t get more interfaith than that 🙂

Or find a big black hat, or a kippah and wear a suit. Add payos and you are on your way.

4. Simon and Garfunkel
DIY Simon and Garfunkel. Find a dark wig and a blond curly wig, a suit jacket, dark mustache and before you know it you will be asked to sing “The Sound of Silence” at the party.
5. Christmas Tree and Menorah
For the Christmas tree, take some green cardboard or felt and cut 2 pieces in shape of Christmas tree and decorate. Or do what this kid did and wear all green, attached garland, lights and ornaments.
And a Menorah – simple to do – a clue sweater and some tinsel…
6. Orange Jews
An easy one to do if you like puns (for those that didn’t get it right away like I didn’t – it’s “Orange Juice”). Color yourselves Orange and identify as Jewish. That simple!
